Description
Project to study a biosourced material for potential
use in the medical field.
Carried out in the 4th year of engineering school, the subject of the tutored project was to study
a biosourced material in order to evaluate its resistance to different pH levels (notably that of sweat)
and its resistance to torsion.
For this group project, we decided to study Kombucha leather, made from tea, sugar and a symbiosis of yeast
and bacteria known colloquially as kombucha mother (or SCOBY).
We studied its characteristics in order to determine whether this material could be used to make orthoses.
